So... it seems that I'm not a freguent blogger

I can't believe it's been 2 months since my last post.  Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years have all passed and January is almost gone too.  Things have been very hectic here.  Right after Thanksgiving James and I decided we had had enough of paying a fortune for heat in the winter (and we still weren't warm) and ordered a wood burning stove.  As you know when you decide to start remodeling it snowballs quickly.  So, a stove cannot be put on carpeting (which we hated right along with all the linoleum).... that's right all of a sudden the carpeting was ripped out of the living room with great rejoicing!

Now this room only has one wall that furniture can be put against and of course that would be reserved for the idol (tv), this means that the couches and tables are in the middle of the room.  It has been our experience that these kind of rooms usually have floor boxes with electric outlets installed in the floor.  Not here.  So out comes the concrete saw to add them before we start laying the ceramic tile.
The hole is cut, the pipe is laid, the wire is pulled and now the hole is once again filled with concrete.

Yes, we were mixing concrete in the wheelbarrow at midnight (remember, I'm usually zonked on the couch by 7:30).
Kayla can now add concrete finishing to her resume.

Now the tile laying begins.  Kyra was the foreman on this job.  James always seems to have a four-legged supervisor to keep him in line.

After alot of hard work we are now enjoying our ceramic tiled living room and woodstove.

Kyra thinks it is all wonderful too.

Just Checkin' In

I'm running behind in blogging and pretty much everything else.  In my previous post I showed you the view of my red tree from my sewing room, below is my view now.
Do you think that cute guy was hiding behind the red leaves the whole time?

James and Tudo have been working on the fire pit.
And then a break (notice the work gloves are still on).

And more work.

Drum roll please.... a completed fire pit!
Unfortunately, surgery and rain have meant no fire yet :0(

The only thing I've been knitting on is baby socks.  Every so often I get obsessed and make a bunch of these.  They're so much fun and so adorable!  I had a difficult time finding somewhere to display them for a photo, so this is what I ended up with.

I'm working on a purse in Christmas fabric and of course the never ending roman shades.  Kayla is working on the most adorable yellow purse and I can't wait to show it off for her.

Hope you're enjoying your Fall!

Random Things

This is the view from my sewing room.  I enjoy this tree so much in the Fall.  I do believe Fall is my favorite time of year.  Though Spring is wonderful, too.  I'm much more inspired when the weather is cool and the windows are open.
This is Tav helping me make Log Cabin squares for the Roman Shades in my dining room.  He thinks    girl stuff is kind of  boring.

Here's my husband and Tudo doing guy stuff.  Tudo likes guy stuff as long as it doesn't involve power tools.  James is trying to decide if the fire pit is round enough.

I thought it was perfectly round, but he wasn't quite sure.  He finally decided it was and laid the second row of rocks.

I started this Haruni (pattern is on Ravelry) back in late Spring.  It's a very intense project!  I picked it back up last week and hope to finish it soon.

James is having Hiatal Hernia surgery Tuesday morning, please pray for him.

I Love To Make Bags!

It all started back in April when I stummbled onto the Artsy-Crafty Babe blog and bought 5 of her patterns.  I've never been overly interested in purses before.  They were just kind of an evil necessity and I never replaced one until the current one had completely fallen apart.  Now I change my purse a couple of times a week; sometimes to just match my outfit.

So, here is one of the latest:
This is the "Pretty In Pleats" bag by Artsy-Crafty Babe.  Her patterns are awesome in my honest opinion.

Here's a close-up of the detail on the handles:
This one is the first that I have designed on my own.  Not perfect, but with some more tweaking I think it will be a pretty nice purse.

The flower is based loosely on this fabric flower tutorial.

Guess it's time to get started on my day.  Have a Happy Sunday!

My Very First Post On My Very First Blog

So, here I am.  I'm not much of a writer and I have no clue what I'm doing.  Yep, that's me.  Just jump in and start doing and figure it out as I go (in some things anyways, others I ponder for so long that I give up).  I'm hoping this will turn out to be a place to share the things I do and think about.
